After the best cliffhanger ending on TV last season, Dexter is returning for it’s 7th season and will waste no time picking up from where it left off. The 2 minute sneak preview fans were treated to literally began just a moment after last year’s exciting ending, and even just a glimpse of what’s to come was thrilling.
Still with me? Okay. After finally catching her stepbrother red-handed and witnessing him murder a fellow serial killer, Miami Homicide Lieutenant Deborah Morgan is shell shocked to say the least.
Too bad she’s not comfortable expressing herself verbally.
The creepiest thing about the clip isn’t how rattled Deb is or that she shakily aims her gun at her brother, it’s the way Dexter slips into bullshit damage control mode and begins to try and pawn off his savagery as a one time thing that happened after he “snapped” due to the evil Doomsday killer (Colin Hanks).
That still doesn’t explain his penchant for plastic covering.
Of course Deb doesn’t let the detail about why the dead guy on the table is wrapped up in plastic go, and before she can instinctively call in her team of cops Dexter gets visibly upset. Talk about a fantastic tease!
So, basically the exact opposite of this.
The Question and Answer panel that ensued was awesome, and it was fun getting the season 7 scoop while surrounded by so many die-hard Dexter fans.
The juiciest tidbits revealed during the panel were that the theme of the new season would be “the consequences of love,” and the confirmation by the writers and producers of the show that Deborah discovering Dexter’s secret has opened up all kinds of creative directions for the show.
